Three years ago, Randy-Kan Portable Restrooms of Poulsbo, Washington, added a Satellite Suites four-stall luxury trailer to its inventory of portable restrooms.

The trailer was a bit of a departure for the company, which offers restrooms and hand-wash stations, but doesn’t offer other equipment such as fences or storage units or office trailers that other portable restroom operators often provide. Randy-Kan, operated by partners Randy Bauer and Karrie Henricksen, focuses only on providing portable sanitation. The company has an inventory of nearly 1,000 portable restrooms, mostly Global and other Satellite | PolyPortables units. The hand-wash stations are a mix of PolyJohn and Satellite | PolyPortables models.

The luxury trailer has been a big hit with customers in Randy-Kan’s service area, which is the Kitsap Peninsula just across the Puget Sound from Seattle.

“We use it strictly for events, mostly weddings and company parties,” Bauer says. “In late summer, it’s out every week. It usually books quite a ways in advance.”

The trailer has two stalls on the women’s side and a toilet and urinal on the men’s side. It has air conditioning, heat, hot water, stereo, vanities, Corian countertops and stainless sinks. Customers tell Bauer that the quality is just like home.

The trailer gets pulled to the event sites with either a 2016 or 2018 Dodge Ram 5500 truck with 650-gallon waste and 300-gallon freshwater steel tanks and Masport pumps from Satellite | PolyPortables or with a 2015 Ram 4500 with 550-gallon waste and 300-gallon freshwater tanks and Masport pump from Satellite | PolyPortables.

One of the events where Randy-Kan brought in the trailer was a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic attended by numerous politicians and local dignitaries. The trailer was also used at an event for the Kathleen Sutton Fund, a local organization that provides transportation for women with cancer. Randy-Kan also offered the use of the Satellite Suites trailer as an auction item at the fundraising event.

Adding a little bit of luxury to the inventory has been a good move. “It’s been a great addition to our fleet,” Bauer says. “We’re thinking about getting another one, possibly a smaller, two-stall unit, so the customers have some options.”
