When you think about the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster of 2010, it’s reassuring to know that a portable sanitation operator like Lynn Boyett is helping with ongoing recovery efforts. Boyett, owner of Boyett’s Septic Tank Service & Portable Restrooms, Pensacola, Fla., is featured in the January issue of PRO for his company’s service in support of cleanup workers along 80 miles of Florida beaches following the disaster.
Boyett’s has placed about 200 portable restrooms and 250 hand-wash stations along the beaches. The equipment is used by cleanup workers. The company also provides greywater pumping in camps where workers are fed and pumping service for buses that transport workers in the field.
Boyett is appreciative of the opportunity for a big job, especially while the economy has struggled to recover from a recession. But he also knows he has a responsibility to be a good corporate citizen and treat his customers fairly, even at a time when some businesses might resort to over-charging for their services.
“I’m not here to just knock it out for a couple months and then they throw us out because we’re too high. We’re here for the long term and to do the job right,’’ he explains in the On Location feature story.
“I know a lot of people have gone out of business, the poor fishermen and people like that. I wish it never happened. But it happened so you have to deal with it. And we’re just trying to do our part. We just make sure we do our job the way it’s supposed to be done.”
Thanks to Boyett for doing his part.
