Carolyn Brewster, for SCENEDAILY.com (http://www.scenedaily.com/news/articles/sprintcupseries/Carolyn_Brewster_Port-a-potty_etiquette_important_at_a_NASCAR_race.html) recently posted her “Miss Manners’’ rules for using crowded restroom facilities at NASCAR event locations. Having spent a lot of time in race crowds, Brewster felt it was necessary to lay down a few tips to make everyone’s portable restroom experience more pleasant. Her biggest concerns: Giving fellow users some space and keeping order in the lines that can become very long.
“If you find yourself waiting for a unit, leave enough distance between the door and where you are standing. If you can hear a zipper, you are too close. Everyone knows why we are at the porta-potty, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be heard. Try to allow a bit of privacy for the person who has use of the facility,’’ Brewster suggests.
If you’ve served NASCAR events – or any other huge special events for that matter – what would you add to Brewster’s list? And if you could speak to NASCAR Nation, what would you tell them about keeping units clean over a long, hot race weekend?
