According to the WBOC 16 news website, a Delaware family was shocked when a local town code enforcement officer ordered their poolside portable restroom removed after they’d rented a unit for the last 12 summers. Homeowner Fred Adams told the news site that his family had a unit placed in their yard between Memorial Day and Labor Day every summer to serve numerous grandchildren who used the pool regularly.
There was never an incident over the portable restroom until late this summer when a town of Laurel official called the portable restroom operator listed on the unit and ordered it removed from the yard. Several residents showed up at a town board to complain that the town was overstepping its authority by removing the restroom.

Have you ever encountered a situation like this? If so, how did you handle it as the restroom contractor? I’m curious to hear about situations where you’ve placed units at homes for the whole summer. It seems like renting a unit was a smart move by the family to keep pool users from traipsing into the house with their wet feet.
