This just in from the North County Times in Southern California: The city of Oceanside creates a public relations nightmare by failing to order enough services for portable restrooms on a pier that is a tourist hot spot. And, not surprisingly, a customer’s frugality unfairly casts a restroom contractor (and portable sanitation in general) in a poor light.
Check out the story here:
According to the story, portable restrooms placed on the pier during a bathroom reconstruction project were overflowing from neglect, causing odor problems and upsetting pier visitors. A city official blamed the PRO on the job. But a representative of the restroom company, Diamond Environmental Services, fought back, explaining that the city had cut back from daily service to three times a week after the Fourth of July.
Readers responding in the newspaper’s comments section backed up Diamond Environmental, saying the company provides exemplary service, and criticizing the city for trying to get by on the cheap.
How many times has this happened to you? A customer orders too few services for a restroom, and then you take the blame when the unit is over-filled and in need of attention. It’s not fair, but in this case, the contractor and readers rightfully called out the city on its mistake.
