The nation’s midsection was stopped in its tracks the past few days by blizzard conditions that buried homes, stranded motorists on the highway and brought a halt to commerce in many states. Such conditions can be a challenge for any business, and portable restroom operators are no exception. If you’re in one of the hard-hit northern regions, you’ve probably traded in your suction hose for a snow shovel on the service route today.
Do you have an action plan for when Mother Nature drops a foot or more of snow and blows it into giant drifts of the white stuff? Is your response to big winter storms as simple as grabbing shovels and digging out restrooms, one by one, until all of your construction units are ready for service again?
How about the service trucks? Do you chain up to move through deep snow in your work territory? Are you dealing with freezing valves, super sloppy rigs and mechanical problems caused by foul-weather working conditions? Does the weight of ice and snow destroy some of your restrooms?
Take a moment to share you stories of winter weather recovery. It may help you to vent, and we’re here to listen. Send your comments to me at editor@promonthly.com.
