The Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo International wrapped up Saturday in Louisville and we all headed home with new and valuable insights about the portable sanitation business. Whether it was an Education Day seminar on determining the actual cost of service or seeing the latest innovations from restroom manufacturers, there was plenty to take in during the show.
And if the traffic I saw in portable sanitation displays is any indication, optimism for a better 2011 busy season is running higher than it has been in the past few years. Especially on the Expo’s opening day on Thursday, customers were often two to three deep waiting to talk to manufacturers of portable restrooms, restroom trailers and service trucks. Manufacturers reported strong interest from contractors, and attendees I talked to expressed a more upbeat outlook than any time since the economic downturn at the end of 2008.
After the lights went down in the Kentucky Exposition Center on Saturday, exhibitors and attendees were looking forward to the 2012 Expo Feb. 27-March 1 in Indianapolis. If you made it to this year’s show, many thanks and I hope you enjoyed the week. If you didn’t make it this year, I hope you consider heading to Indy next year.
