A worker was seriously injured on a new construction site in Durham, North Carolina, when a large metal beam fell from the fifth story of a build and crushed the portable restroom he was occupying. The contracting company is cooperating with the OSHA investigation of the accident.


An unwisely placed portable toilet is the subject of a pilot’s lawsuit against a Utah nonprofit. The pilot was coming in for a landing at an Emery County airstrip a year ago when he crashed into a restroom. There were two units placed on or very near the landing strip for an event, and they were camouflaged from view because their paint colors matched the surroundings a little too well.


A windstorm tore through parts of Washington state last week, bringing down trees … and launching a portable restroom onto a rooftop in downtown Seattle.


When the Seaton, Illinois, post office had to vacate its building, the temporary solution was to set up shop in a mail truck — with a portable restroom parked next to it for the postal worker’s use. And the fix seems a little too permanent.


Police in Chesterton, Indiana, are pursuing an active case to determine the health and welfare of a woman and newborn after a passerby spied “remains of a newborn human birthing process” in the tank of a portable restroom.


The Costa Mesa (California) Sanitary District is joining several other communities in working to provide sanitation services to the local homeless. The sanitary district hopes to reach an agreement with the city to provide a mobile restroom trailer with a paid attendant who would make sure the facility is kept clean and used for its intended purpose.
