MCKINNEY, TEXAS — Streetside Showers, profiled in the August 2019 edition of Portable Restroom Operator, reported the theft of its 2003 Ford Excursion and a generator, which occurred in the early hours of Jan. 22. While the theft was caught on fuzzy camera footage, police are still looking for leads, according to CBS TV-11.
The portable sanitation nonprofit provides showers and other hygiene services for members of homeless communities in McKinney, Plano, Irving and Denton.
“Last year we provided over 3,700 showers to the homeless,” says Lance Olinski, Streetside Showers founder and CEO, in an email to PRO. “We are helping a lot of people.”
Unfortunately the theft interrupted the nonprofit’s service for a couple days before enough donations were brought in to purchase a new generator. Streetside Showers is currently relying on its backup pickup truck.
Unfortunately, showers were cancelled today in Plano. The Streetside Showers 2003 Black Ford Excursion Truck and Honda Generator was stolen at 3:20 am. We are working with the police. Hoping it will be found. #showeron
