Product spotlight keevac hitch hauler

When it’s paired with your reliable pickup truck and a slide-in unit, it’s a lightweight pumping and restroom-transportation wild card. When you’re not hauling portables, it folds up to save space in the shop and on the road. KeeVac’s KVTC Hitch Mount is a versatile add-on whether you need a complement to the fleet, a no-CDL-required setup, or a contingency plan.

The KVTC – which launched February and stands for for KeeVac Toilet Carrier – isn’t the company’s first carrier, but it is their debut unit built on a trailer hitch and designed for heavy-duty pickup trucks carrying slide-in tanks. It measures 96 inches in length and carries two standard portable restrooms, or one ADA-compliant restroom.

“I think [the KVTC is] a good option to go with the slide-in units, which we also manufacture here at the Denver location, so we can offer a customer a complete package to get up and running for a lot cheaper than a frame-mounted slide-in tank,” says Chase Augenstein, KeeVac Industries Purchasing Manager.

When in use carrying restrooms, the hauler is 46.125 inches in width, equipped with running lights and is load-legal. When moved to the “up” position, the KVTC saves on load length and aids in drivability, Augenstein says. A swinging bracket also ensures your license plate is visible in the up or down position.

With an aluminum fold-down portion and a zinc-rich, powder-coated steel hitch with molded harness and wire weather pack connectors, the KVTC is built with longevity in mind to resist corrosion and the elements. That’s ideal for peace of mind when you’re pulling out the KVTC/slide-in rig for an emergency job.

“We tend to recommend to a lot of our customers, especially bigger outfits, that you should always have a backup plan in case one of your trucks goes down,” Augenstein says. “If you had any of your bigger trucks go down, you could still move two toilets around and you could still service.”

The KVTC also works well for a variety of small-scale operations. Augenstein says it can be part of a vacuum rig that can be driven without a CDL. It’s also a good fit for small events or job sites, or any site where a PRO only needs to quickly move one or two units on a small footprint.

“It’s for [when] you only need to move the two toilets around and then the slide-in units to keep it under CDL,” Augenstein says.
