On construction sites, wasted efficiency costs time and money, but when on-site portable restrooms must be placed at high elevations, traditional transport methods may cause logistical challenges. Lang Restroom Trailers’ machine-liftable Sentry Series Restroom POD enables hassle-free transportation at any elevation, complete with several amenities of a luxury trailer.
According to Don Bushey, sales and marketing at Lang, the Sentry is transportable by a variety of methods. Four onboard hoist points allow it to be strapped in and securely lifted by a crane for precision placement on the job site. Once in place, the restroom’s frame is engineered to be picked up from all four sides using a forklift or telehandler, or – on a flat surface – two workers can push the restroom in place thanks to heavy-duty caster wheels.
“A lot of times, trailers will move several dozen times on a construction site, depending on where the work is being done. With the pod, you don’t have to get a truck,” Bushey says.
The two-unit restroom is built with a 200-gallon waste tank, an optional 100-gallon freshwater tank, and can connect directly to a water source. The unisex restrooms are equipped with a toilet, waterless urinal, sink and optional hand-dryer, which Bushey says saves on water and maintenance time. Onboard climate control is powered by a 120-volt, 20-amp circuit.
“Standards are changing on construction sites,” Bushey says. “Employees and workers, everybody’s demanding something a little bit better, a little more sanitary, as well as something climate-controlled.”
The Sentry is built from high-quality components, including a steel powder-coated frame, durable vinyl flooring and full porcelain toilets. Strap guides and wall-incorporated bumpers prevent damage during lifting. Gel-coated fiberglass walls simplify wipedown, while floor drains allow the rooms to be hosed out. All parts are user-replaceable.
“They’re designed to be rugged. The construction field is hard on equipment, so we have the ability to equip the POD itself with some heavy-duty, longer-lasting equipment,” Bushey says.
Bushey says Sentry restrooms have helped crews save time on high-rise building constructions, including a recent eight-floor data center in the U.S. “As the floors were being built, they would just move the unit to the next floor,” he says. “That way, they saved time, so employees didn’t have to walk down each flight of stairs to go to the bathroom and come back up.”
