Deodorizers have come a long way, keeping restrooms smelling fresh long between maintenance periods, even when climates are extreme and traffic is heavy. But for the jobs where you know you’ll be back tomorrow for repeat maintenance, or where climates are mild, high-power solutions may not be necessary. Walex, founded in 1987, designed the first water-soluble deodorizer packet in the portables market, the Porta-Pak, which enables quick-acting, mess-free application to boost efficiency on the job, according to the maker. While the product is a good fit for multiple daily services, odor control can also last up to a week between service intervals under optimal traffic and weather conditions.
“I have people that buy the Express Pak for once-a-week in mild climates,” Marcucci says. “It’s best for cooler nights and slightly mild days.”
The Express comes in at a lower price point, but Marcucci says it isn’t simply a less concentrated version of its counterparts. Instead, Walex designed the packet with a unique proprietary blend designed to rapidly break down paper and waste, optimized for special events and repeat service. “It’s a very good, solid product for the price point,” Marcucci. “It has good color, great fragrance load, good odor control. It’s very consistent and has a very quick dissolve rate."
