Some say Easy-Haul’s office in Fairhope, Alabama, looks like a mini Cracker Barrel restaurant on the outside with a comfy cabin feel on the inside. That was the look Bobby and Pam Tucker wanted when they designed their new office in 2007 after working out of a temporary construction trailer.

Bobby Tucker started a roll-off container business in 2004, adding portable restrooms in 2012. After purchasing 5 acres, the company built an office, shop and garage. Wanting something more than a nondescript, purely functional office, the Tuckers modeled the design on lodges they’d seen on frequent travels to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia and North Carolina.

They carried the homey theme over to the furniture and wall decorations. “It has a lot of wood in it, so it has a natural feel,” says Austin Tucker, Bobby’s son and company vice president. “We’re into hunting and fishing so there are deer heads and a lot of outdoor stuff on the walls.”

The showpiece of the office is the front desk built of cypress wood. “We took a piece of steel and mounted it in the wood and put our logo on it,” Austin Tucker says. “It mimics the side of one of our roll-off containers.”

The staff loves the office, Tucker reports. The management team — including Bobby and Austin Tucker; Jarred Richardson, portable restroom manager; and Justin Self, roll-off manager — spends most of its time in the office overseeing operations, dispatching drivers, answering phones and doing paperwork. The "home away from home" feel makes for an enjoyable workday.

Customers are also impressed and really love it, Austin Tucker says. “When they come in, it’s a surprise for them to see it look like this. And a lot of people talk about the smell — the smell of all the wood.”
