Years ago, a manufacturer of a two-restroom hitch-mounted carrier went to Deal Associates for help marketing their product. Dane Deal, owner of the company, observed areas of the carrier he thought could use improvement.
“The two-restroom carrier was wide, completely blocking the vehicle’s tailights which led to the requirement for a full set of lights adding to the cost and complexity,” says Deal. He saw an opportunity to manufacture a simpler, single restroom carrier and went to work designing the Hitch Hauler.
Deal’s single portable restroom carrier does not block a vehicle’s tail lights and also sits low enough to leave truck tailgate or rear door of an SUV unobstructed.
“The Hitch Hauler had to be reasonably priced, simple, durable and easily installed and removed,” Deal says. “We wanted it to stick out only as far as a folded-down tailgate to reduce the likelihood an operator would back into something
with it.”
The hauler can also easily be installed and removed by one person without tools, and protrudes about 25 inches past the vehicle receiver when not carrying a restroom. It weighs 52 pounds and can carry restrooms up to 45.5 inches wide. It fits into standard 2-inch hitch receivers and is built from heavy-duty, welded and powder-coated steel. It features four attachment points for tie-straps and DOT-approved reflective tape.
“It has become very popular among operators using a slide-in tank in a pickup truck,” Deal says. “It is a hit with operators working in gated communities or tight locations where a large pump truck isn’t welcome or simply can’t fit.”
To use, simply tip a restroom up onto the front of the hauler and slide it forward until it is seated firmly against the Hitch Hauler frame. Securely strap the restroom using two heavy-duty ratchet straps included with the product. Tabs on the Hitch Hauler engage the restroom’s pallet feet to help hold it in place.
As an added bonus, the unit provides enough room for an additional Deal-designed product designed to make the PRO’s job easier. “Of course, the Hitch Hauler also had to be able to carry our Super Mongo Mover hand truck in addition to the restroom,” he says.
