Durability and dependability are the two characteristics most PROs look for in their portable restrooms. PolyJohn’s all-new, all-plastic front PJ portable restroom is built tough and designed for dependability.
The PJ is designed with many new and improved features that make it stand out, according to Danny Schaver, vice president of marketing for PolyJohn. The most significant of these improvements is a new integrated corner assembly that provides strength, durability and impact resistance. The corners feature fewer rivets to make assembly and repairs easier. The company has also employed a new manufacturing process that Schaver believes sets the unit apart.
“We have been working on this new unit for some time now,” he says. “We are using a completely different type of plastic manufacturing process than we have for our other units. Our engineers believe that it is the best kind of process for plastic manufacturing.”
The base unit comes in five standard colors, which are in stock and ready for quick delivery at an affordable price. The roof includes an integrated grab handle for easy tipping and moving, along with channels to hold straps in place during transport. Other design features include integrated side vents, a foot handle for hands-free door opening and a wider door with a larger signage area for application of the operator placard.
“We went through extensive testing with this unit,” says Schaver. “We got a freezer truck and put one of these units in it for 24 hours at negative temperatures, then immediately put it through drop tests, and it held together phenomenally. We also put it on a drop opening machine to send it through five years of opening and closing and the machine broke before the unit did.”
Not only did the units perform well in lab tests, but also in field tests. “We had several units go out to select companies across the country to test out different environments, and like everything else we produce, they held up to the elements,” says Schaver. “We specialize in making outdoor weatherable products, and we make them with full intentions that they are going to last 20+ years in the field.”
The feedback from the PROs in those field tests was also positive. “The test units that were sent out have got rave reviews,” says Schaver. “They love the larger door opening, and also the larger decal area. And the upgraded corners are a huge hit.”
