Injector device keeps biosolids below ground
Problem
When Russ Cech injected biosolids into his sandy, red clay soil the injector knife left exposed material on the field surface, creating environmental concerns.
Solution
Cech contacted Stahly, which designed a stainless steel discharge device that applied, placed and kept the biosolids below the soil surface by sealing the opening left by the injector knife.
Result
No residue remains on the soil surface after using the new injection system. 800/678-2459; www.stahly.com.
Ergonomic workstation reduces fatigue
Problem
Nancy Smith of Smith Septic Service wanted a new, steel restroom service truck that would increase operator efficiency and maximize her investment.
Solution
MTC Lely Tank and Waste Solutions took a standard 1,100-gallon waste/450-gallon freshwater unit and added an ergonomically designed workstation on the front of each side of the tank and stainless steel catwalk.
Result
The workstation places the operator two steps from the cab, positioning pump controls chest high and the bucket fill close to the ground for minimal reaching and lifting. The design reduces fatigue, provides a safer work environment and less downtime, while the catwalk eliminates rust, prolonging product life. 800/367-5359; www.mtclely.com.
