Over here at PRO, we’re big fans of an audit, whether it’s preseason inventory moves, debriefing after a specific event and, yes, the midseason audit — especially for PROs focused on special events service. A midseason audit isn’t just counting assets. It’s an opportunity to stress-test your fleet and business infrastructure while special-events demand is high.

What that audit looks like can vary from PRO to PRO. The goal may be to catch dropping performance, prevent in-season failures and ensure overall efficiency, but how you go about that depends upon the size and location of your operation. E.g., a vehicle audit may not be necessary with a contracted lease, and formal employee reviews may be pointless because you’re a solo operator.

However, key equipment and intangible asset concerns remain universal, and we’ve created a Midseason Equipment Audit checklist to help you better organize your midsummer evaluation. You can download a PDF of  PRO Checklists’ Midseason Equipment Audit here.

Don’t think about your midseason audit purely in terms of reducing breakdowns. Audits should also improve profitability; they are revenue tools. Taking a hard analytical look at your assets allows you to move underperforming restrooms to higher-demand events, justifies unit pricing, and should reduce emergency service calls.

A well-done audit allows you to make business tweaks in real time, even when demand and stress is running high. Yes, it can keep your fleet operational, but a midseason audit also allows you to maintain customer experience standards and remain efficient more easily.

Again, you can find a downloadable PDF of PRO Checklists’ Midseason Equipment Audit here. Feel free to modify the checklist to fit your needs; what works for one PRO may not work for another.
