With the cost of offloading septage continuing to rise, many PROs have taken steps to self-treat their pumped waste. A quality septage receiving sta- tion is typically the first step in that process, and the Mini Screen 400 Septic Receiving Station from ScreencO Systems is designed to make that step a reality.
The compact station features ScreencO’s Dual Screen Design, including 16 square feet of bar screening area. It allows PROs to gravity offload up to 500 gpm through a 4-inch inlet cam or telescope inlet, with a fan spreader deflecting waste down on the screen, making it virtually self-cleaning.
“The Mini Screen 400 is a simple, nonmechanical hand rake-out receiv- ing screen,” says ScreencO owner and founder Scott Meyer. “As far as I know there are no other companies offering a simple manual rake screen.”
The nonmechanical screen uses gravity and flow from the truck to sepa- rate the trash from the waste stream. It features all-aluminum construction with stainless steel 3/8-inch gapped bar screens on opposing angles, so it will not plug with rags or trash. It offers simple raking to the trash drain tray with stainless steel cleaning tools, making for a simple clean out to the uni- versal 7-foot folding trash chute assembly, allowing for trash exit in either direction. Built-in forklift pockets make the unit portable, allowing for setup anywhere. OSHA-compliant aluminum catwalk included. Optional all stain- less steel construction.
“It has a wide range of use in the liquid waste industry,” says Meyer. “It can be used for portable restroom, septic, grease and vault toilet waste. It’s suitable for both small route trucks and large trucks that gather waste from holding tanks and capable of a 3- or 4-inch offload. We offer bar screen gaps that range from 3/16-, 1/4- and the standard 3/8-inch gap bar screens.”
The unit’s design comes from experience as Meyer himself operates his own septage receiving plant. He has designed the company’s stations based on current needs in the industry for simple screening equipment that works best for the needs to screen trash from liquid waste flow streams.
“We currently use this same design in our own dewatering plant,” he says. “The product is simple, effective, and easy to use with no moving parts. There is virtually no maintenance cost with simple hand rake-out and easy cleaning.”
